Babsje, a local photographer, lived in Natick for years, but was so intensely private that she never joined the Natick Art Association. Unfortunately, she passed away unexpectedly in January 2024.

Babsje had a very active blog: https://babsjeheron.wordpress.com/art/. On the blog one can see her breathtaking photos of the world of herons, which she had for years been taking from her kayak, in and around Lake Cochituate and on the Charles, including at the dam in South Natick.

By an amazing stroke of fortune, the Bacon Free Library has recently agreed to hang an exhibit of Babsje’s marvelous pictures, which will be for sale, this month from May 21-June 3 for all to see. Fittingly, some of the photos may have been taken right across the street from the library where they will be exhibited. Please stop and enjoy her photos at the BFL during this time!
